This is simply a documentation of the
Nation Of Ulysses' zine, Ulysses Speaks. It was released in the early nineties and was available by writing the band. I'll post various issues as I have the time. I'm currently missing issue #01 and #06.
The members of the band included: Ian Svenonius (vocals), Steve Kroner (occasional guitar), Tim Green (guitar), Steve Gamboa (bass) and James Canty (drums).
The band members have gone on to other things, including but not limited to the following list:
Cupid Car ClubThe Make-Up (
Again)
Weird War/Scene CreamersFrench ToastI'm not going to speak much about the zines themselves. They are what they are. Take them for what they are worth - and nothing more.
Personally, I believe it was all meant as a overbearing erudite joke - not to be taken literally, but rather as a means of opening up communication.
GET THE TAN WITHOUT THE BURN!
UPDATE:
As I've started to post some of the later issues, I've had to make a decision as to their presentation. There are a few issues that are multiple pages, and as such, are not as easily read in a linear manner. I've decided to leave them as scanned to facilitate the ease of reproduction (print-photocopy-disseminate!) instead of cutting the documents apart to make them appear on the site in the order in which they should be read. That being said, think of the images as scanned pages of paper that are meant to be folded in half and put together - hopefully this is clear just by looking at them.
Also, with the increase in visitors to this site, I'm hoping someone out there may have the missing issues so that I can complete this project. I don't know the total issues made, but currently I have 2,3,4,5,7,8.
Thanks, and please leave comments! Also, visit my other site,
grapeJuiceplus, for a couple of NOU tracks.
UPDATE 2: Damnit...the institution is dragging me down...I've used up "100%" of my alloted flicker uploads...might have to wait until next month to post the rest. Grrr...
UPDATE 3: The world is MY oyster! Bask in the glory of my glow! I have finally gotten off of my lazy no good rear and posted the last two issues in my possession.
Enjoy the visual accompaniement to the SoundTrack to Revolution!
